Before Me and Maia usually take off for one of our daily adventures We have a little motto-

I say "ok Maia what do we say?"

and she says "Thank you"

And I have to say "No, say Let's do this"

And she quickly excitedly replies with "Let's do dis"!

She really is the most fun to hang out with!! and that is exactly what we have been doing!

I have not been into the computer thing lately- crazy for me who usually spends a bit of time working on the computer or surfing the internet for Kindergarten ideas! There is no time for blogging when there is fun to be had! We have enjoyed a great summer! It's usually just me and Maia because Matt is either at school or at work! Busy guy.... Who knows when we will have more time with him!?

We have been to Dinneylan (you have to say it like that in our house)

And found our way to the Beach while we were there
We have been swimming more times then we can count(with 4 trips to 7 peaks so far and 3 to the splash pads)!

We have had a lot of play dates with some new friends in our neighborhood!
We have taken a few library trips

So it seems like we really just go, go, go this summer! I am just trying to make lots of good memories and make the most of our time together while we have time!!

School starts in a few weeks, and although I only teach half time, it still really seems to rule my life!

so My thoughts to whoever may be reading this....... Have a Happy Rest-of-Summer and play lots while the sun is shining bright and while the pool is still open!!

Maia Turned 2!!!

Yes We have a 2 year old!! How fun!! Maia is getting so big and so smart and she is finally 2! She is growing so fast and learns so much each day! We are constantly saying "OK I swear a 2 year old can't do that!" We think she is a genius!!

She loves...

-Pirates of the Caribbean

-Fruit snacks

-SLeeping!!

-Parks

-Hot dogs

-Brothers(twin boys at my moms day care- they are 4 and they are best friends!!)

-Nursery

-Getting Sick:( Ok not really loves it, but I swear she does it all the time!!

WE had a little family birthday party on Thursday! It was a lot of fun and it turned out great! Everyone pitched in to help and that made it a much more enjoyable day!! Enjoy the pictures!!

She didn't feel totally herself (as you can tell) but she did have a cute costume to wear(That CAroline MADE!!)

Isn't this cake AWESOME!! I just loved how it turned out! I bought it at this awesome bakery!! NOT-Caroline MADE IT!! She is talented!!

So Happy that April was in Town and could come- So good to see her, Avery and Jaren!

Overall She got really spoiled and We had a great day!

Spring Break

This week I had the whole week off for Spring Break! It felt a little long, cause we didn't go anywhere and didn't have major plans- but we had a good time just being together! Matt still had school and work, so Maia and I made the most of our time together!

Monday-

We went to Lunch with Grandma Karen, and then we went swimming at her pool!

Tuesday-

I went to Zumba with my friend Hillary- and her little girl Livy and Maia had a fun time in the Day care together! Then we went to the Thanksgiving Point Farm country and Dinosaur Museum thanks to Grandma Karen! We got to go with Maia's little friends from Grandma's Day care! She loves those "brothers"!

Wednesday-

I of course had to go to my classroom one day and it was this day! Maia didn't mind since it was only a couple hours! Then we went Shopping with Grandma Jeanne!

Thursday-

I went to Zumba in the morning and then just had a nice relaxing day just being a mom and keeping Maia on a good schedule!

Friday-

I went to Zumba again (and yes I am feeling it now!! I love being SORE!) Then Katie came over and we went coupon shopping(I saved about $20 bucks!! That is always fun) But thankfully I had Katie, because we know how much Maia loves to go to the grocery stores!! NOT!

Then Matt came home and we went to Trafalga and ended up buying the Pass of all Passes!! Didn't think I would- but it will be fun to have something to do with Maia this summer!!

Saturday-

We went to the ZOO!! and boy did Maia Love it!!! WE had a great day just our family and then Matt had to go to work! He works so hard for our family, I am so proud of him!!

So spring break was a nice break! I liked being home with Maia, keeping her on a pretty good schedule, keeping up on the house duties, and making breakfast(isn't there just a sense of accomplishment when you make breakfast? I really love making it for my family! It's like you are starting their day off right!)!! Although I only have to work about 5 hours every morning I still have a hard time keeping up on the everyday life stuff!! Because as you teachers know teaching is not just a 5 hr/day job!!

So this spring break was like a little peak into what summer will hopefully look like! Time to be a good mom, housekeeper, cook, exerciser, and wife!

But being a mom to this little girl I

think is the best job of all!!

MY New OBSESSION

OK friends- if you do not do this yet you must-- Couponing!! I am crazy about it- I stay up late printing coupons, I dream about good deals, and I just spent 2 hours at the WALMART with Maia who hates shopping! I know I am crazy.

It all got started with this little show-

About a month ago they did this TLC special(It has now turned into a series I guess)- where these extreme couponers got their groceries up to 90% off- it was ridiculous! But it got me thinking... I wanna do that!

Although my grocery bills haven't saved me 70,80,90% off from this new obsession, I usually save about 50% and I think that is great!

I know this is something that I could consume my life with- because it is a fun and it does get addicting- but I have tried really hard to do my best, and if something I need doesn't have a coupon or there isn't an ad for it- then it is ok- I get it anyway and realize that I am saving money on a lot of items I already need!

So here are the trips I went on today!

first stop-

Target

My sister, Katie has been coming with me to target and we have had a lot of fun searching for the deals, and looking on the clearance end caps! So we went today and got a few things....

2 bottle of dove body wash- matt likes the smell, and I had 2 coupons, and it was on clearance- so those were .78 each!

2 bottle of hairspray because Matt goes through this like crazy- I had $1.00 off coupons for it I also scored on this one because it had a mini shampoo and conditioner attached to each of these. so those were 2.24 each!

a bottle of visine- because I had a $2 off coupon on this and it was only 1.97- so yes I will take that free item- THANK YOU!

a bottle of generic ibuprofen- because it is $.99 and I had a $1.00 off coupon on this- so another FREEBIE!!

so this was a total of $6.91- and it would have been 15.20- so that is a % savings of...55%( if Matt did the math right!! Cause I couldn't even figure out how to do it!)

Pretty Cool, huh?? Nothing Crazy like 90%- but I still feel great about it!

2nd Stop -

Walmart

So of course the beloved Walmart that most of us shop at, and their prices are already pretty low on most things, so why price match and coupon? Because it's FUN!! and you can save $$$$!!

Well I went into Walmart with my ads and my coupon binder thinking I was organized! Well next time I will do better, because I think the checker hated me! She stopped asking to see my ads that I was price matching with and just believed the prices I told her, I memorized them anyway- so it was all honest!

So after I felt like everyone was watching me, and my 6 ads, and my big binger, and my crying baby and my unorganized cart- I spent a total of 51.85 on 97.79 worth of things!

among those you will see...

Diapers- for my best friends shower this saturday- which I saved like 5.50 on! So I payed about 3.50!

2 KY Jellys tubes- FREE

Excedrin extra stregth- FREE!

Rockstars- matt buys these for 2.29 at the gas station- and I payed 1.00 each!

Powerade- only 39 cents!

about 6 bags and 2 boxes of pasta only 49 cents each!

Secret deoderant- 1.99! So many people get this stuff free- but I am only a beginner!

Wheat thins- .99 FAMILY SIZE!

eyelash curler- 87 cents

Ground turkey 1.00 each

Frozen veggies 50 cents

(And in the photograph I forgot to add the mayo-

3 boxes of pop tarts- lettuce and grapes!)

Ok the list keeps going but it really is so exciting to me that I am not buying anything I would not normally buy and I can save all that money!

When you think about it I got paid $25 an hour to shop! cause I saved over 50 bucks on these 2 trips!

So at Walmart it is fun because they accept store ads, store coupons, manufacturers coupons! So when it's on sale I buy a lot- and I think I have enough pasta for 1 year!

Now are you thinking, this takes too much time, it seems too stressful and hard? So did I when my sister Caroline told me about couponing months ago- but after seeing what these people were saving I decided to try! And I still get nervous when I go to a lane that the checker is going to tell me NO- you can't do that! And if they did- oh well I wouldn't get it- no big deal! As you can see I was so hesitant to start doing this, and the checkers have been so easy to work with(for the most part) and they are happy to help(for the most part)! and it's funny but with couponing and price matching- you can do it as much as you want or as little as you want- but it still feels good, because you are still saving money!

I just truly believe little Changes will make Big differences, and it is funny to say- But I don't think I could ever go back to shopping like I used to!

OK Enough on my soap box! just don't knock it till you try it and don't go in line behind someone with a shopping cart full of ads, and coupons, and screaming 1 year old!!

See I can Craft... Well kind of!!

So I had the urge to create something today- but Maia was sleeping and I couldn't go to the store. So I went through some of my old fabric scraps and decided to make a V-day table runner( I have been looking for one, but couldn't find a cute one to buy), so it made sense to try and make a cute one!

I am not a patient seamstress, but I decided to try my best on this project (I even pulled out the iron)! I made a huge mess, burned myself, but had a nice relaxing time just doing something that I love to do- CREATING!

The Finished Product- What do you think?

I was limited on my resources, but it's a shabby chic kind of Valentine look and I love it! (it's also the same material that we used to make all of Maia's Nursery set, so maybe it can just go in there when I'm done) And the bottom and the hearts were burlap, and I absolutely love the mix of the two!

Then I went to DI to buy some candy dishes and ended up finding these 3 awesome pieces- The Gold 2 tiered tray was 2 bucks, the small bowl was. 50, and the candle holder and plate (that I just am using as a cute cake stand candy dish- those were 1.00 a piece! For a total of 4.50-
Good Finds I'd say!

And this little girl is tempted by those candy dishes, so I don't know how long they will be there!!

I am no professional- but I had fun doing it and That's all that matters, right?

February Goal

January's Goal to choose the better choice actually worked so well for me! Of course I am human, and sometimes you need to veg in front of the TV after a day of 25 5-6 year olds! (but I LOVE IT, so I'm not complaining)! But it made me so aware of the things I was doing and what I could be doing better!

This month I have decided to choose my goal to be :

SELF MASTERY

I can't think of a way to describe what it means, so I searched LDS.org and found this definition and it is perfect!

"Self-mastery is the power within us to control our desires and actions. Such power is necessary to return to live with Heavenly Father. It requires continual effort on our part, but as we develop self-mastery, we become better prepared to make correct decisions."

I know there are little things that I wanna change about myself, and I don't want those things to control me, So I am choosing self mastery this month to take control of my choices and become better!

A person who is such an example to me of this is my BEST FRIEND and SISTER Katie!! She really takes control of her choices and lives how she knows she should! And I LOVE HER!

2010 seemed to fly by- I know we all say that each year.. But it DID! And I hate that because it means I'm getting older! (Blah- Oh well!)

I really believe in making resolutions and goals that help you become a better you! But I have decided to give a twist to the traditions of resolutions!

Instead of a long list of resolutions at the beginning of the year, I am going to create one resolution at the beginning on the month! So that way I can do things gradually and not feel bad when May comes around and my list is long forgotten!

So to start it off,

My goal for the month of January is to

Choose the Better Choice!

..... for example when Maia is down for nap, I read a good book, and not loaf in front on the TV!(Loaf is such an ugly word, but sitting in front of the TV watching nothing can be pretty ugly)

....for example when I wanna eat a carb loaded delight- I will choose a healthier snack that I can feel good about myself later!

I just want to take charge of my choices, and not let bad habits control me!

And of course, its OK to let yourself go once in a while, and do nothing and eat like crap- but like I said, it's a small change that will help me feel better about myself!

So much has been going on this summer I haven't had anytime to post!! I will attempt to cover the past month!!

Huntington Beach.....

This is our 2nd time going to the fun beach house in Huntington Beach with the Joseph's, But the 1st time with a child!! It made it much different, and much BETTER!!

Maia Loved the Sand, but was hesitant about the waves!

Best place on EARTH! And Maia's first time was a blast!!

Luke and April are here from California for 8 weeks!!

Matt and I recently celebrated our 4 year anniversary-Wow!! We went on a great date and of course brought Maia along!! I think we just wouldn't really know what to do without her! We had a great day and a great year!! We had so many adventures.... Can't wait for more to come!!

We had such a great time celebrating Maia's first birthday! Both of our families were able to come, and close friends! It was lady bug themed, with cute cake and cupcakes that I did myself even(the cake was dropped and the cupcakes, never photographed:( oh well next time!)

My dear friends Allie and Emily- who i spent everyday with and WE Couldn't believe it was actually over- very surreal, but very exciting!!( Oh and if you're wondering why I don't have a green sash around my neck- it's because i forgot it!! they still let me graduate thank goodness, but i borrowed one for the commencement-PHEW!)

As you can see i have undated the look of my blog! I'm learning how to use photo shop and had some fun with it (with Matt's help of course)! I think Maia would have fit in perfect in the 1800's with that serious look! I might have overdone it with that picture- but I think it's kind of cool!!

Can you believe it?

I am actually going to be a college graduate?

If you would have asked me a couple years ago I don't know if i could have told you for certain that this was going to happen!
I knew it was just a lot of work and a lot of sacrifice, and I wasn't sure that I had it in me!

But now, 7 YEARS after graduating high school and a lot of dedication and support I followed my dream and achieved it! ( I think it's been since I was in 4th grade I knew that I wanted to be a teacher and have a classroom of my own!)

I am so excited and so relieved! Now I just need to find a part time teaching job so I can use this well earned degree! I am so glad to be done, and am so thankful for the many people who loved and supported me on my way!!

And thanks to Matt for putting this cute little announcement together! Couldn't have done any of this without his support and encouragement! I truly do feel so blessed that I was able to follow my dream!

And Thanks to my Sister Annie for taking these pictures for us, I think they turned out great:)

I'M DONE- now what?

So I just turned in my final project along with my Senior Portfolio- I"M DONE!! No more waking up early to get Maia ready, run out the door, drive her to my mom's, (or have Uncle Clayton come pick her up) and go to school! No more late night assignments or early morning group sessions! No more trying way to hard to find something to wear, at my attempt to look cute!
But now no more brain stimulating discussions.
No observing the many classrooms I got the chance to visit. :(
No more Note Taking! :)
NO MORE TEST TAKING!! :)

What's Going on...

So this is what's been going on.....

I just started my seventh week of student teaching!! So excited about that! It's been super hard to leave Maia EVERY DAY, but only 4 weeks left and then no more school for a long while! (Teaching probably, Masters possibly down the road)

Matt has been working super hard and we are so proud of him! Work 5-6 days a week, and school 4 nights a week!

Let's just say I am glad Maia is young and won't remember this crazy time of life where her parents abandon her everyday! She is a Trooper!!

But when we aren't at school or work... WE take advantage of the time we DO have!

We started doing a craft on Sunday, it was Caroline's idea, and she got sick! :( I'm sorry you got sick, but I hope you know how much fun it was! And I think it's pretty cute too! So I can't tell you how badly I hate blogging- Matt is the blogger is on our family if you can't tell!Reading all your blogs i live for- but when it comes to writing about my life- I'd rather not! But I thought I'd better so I can remember this awesome time of our life!
Matt and I just started school~ He is doing Computer stuff!! I am in my last semester of Elementary Education- which means I am Student Teaching! I just finished my 2nd week at Highland Elementary! I am in Kindergarten and I love it! My two sessions(AM/PM) are so much fun and sure do keep my entertained! I am learning so much, but most of all i am just learning how much time it takes! Planning, Preparing, cutting, copying, tying shoes, comforting crying children when they cry because someone just butt them in line- Ya know just the everyday stuff?!!?
So when we aren't at school we get to play with our little Maia- who is such a big girl now! Almost 8 months and she...
-went sledding for the first time last week
-just broke 2 teeth yesterday!
-has the nick name "roly Poly" because she rolls across the room in record time
-Loves sweet potatoes, Graham Crackers, and carrots
-Hates formula(just started it and it's not been an easy transition so far)
- and Smiles way more than she cries!!!
So to say the least, she is a great, happy, perfect little angel!! We are just so thankful she is putting up with us dropping her off on our mom's 5-6 days a week!

We carved pumpkins last night with Matt's family. It's Maia's first Halloween, but she didn't seem that interested. Oh well...Maybe in a few years.

Well as many of you know Matt and I are both full time students! This makes very little time for the three of us to be together!
We cherish each moment that we have together (8am-9am and 10pm-12am)!
Fortunately I am able to spend almost every moment out of class with Maia, while Matt works full time at his job! He goes to school at 10 or 11 and works till 10 or 11 at night! Thank you Daddy for all you do for us- WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

Maia truely loves her Daddy! She is usually so alert and happy when he is home! Matt is so excited to see his girls when he comes home! Anyone who knows Matt really well knows that is is awesome with babies- he just has a calming affect on them that I do not have and I love that matt does! He has been such a good daddy from day ONE! I am so thankful for Matt as a husband and I have loved seeing him become a wonderful Father! Thanks babe for all you do for us!

Twilight Saga: New Moon

So, we went to see Harry Potter on Wednesday and saw the preview for the new Twilight movie. I swear, half the people in the theater were probably there just to see the trailer. I still don't get what the appeal of these books/movies is. Maybe because I haven't read any of the books (this is Matt, by the way. Sarah's read them.) and I thought the first movie was a bit hokey. The special effects in the first movie were garbage (the scene where Ed is running up the mountain with Bella on his back reminded me of the scene in the original Superman from '78 when Clark Kent is running alongside the train) so hopefully the budget was bigger for the sequel. Anyway, here's the trailer. (Oh, and when did this become about werewolves? I thought it was about vampires.)

Here's the '78 Superman scene I was referring to. Skip to 1:16 and tell me that's not exactly what Edward looks like when he's running up the mountain with Bella on his back.

So i don't know if any of you have felt this way but it seriously is still sinking in that i am actually the mother of a beautiful wonderful baby girl! I love her so much! i was just looking at Matt the other day and thought- Wow think of where we have come? Dating for 2 years, married for 3, and now Maia! and let me just tell you she has been the best thing that has happened to both Matt and I! WE just can't get enough of her! These past 5 years have been awesome- but i am guessing that these next 5 are gonna be much better, now that Maia is apart of our family!

Since there are so many things I have been wanting to post lately- but haven't gotten to them for obvious reasons- Life is crazy busy with a baby!
First I just wanted to thank and show my appreciation to two very important people who helped me tremendously when we first got home from the hospital! My Mom and Matt's Mom, Jeanne!
My mom was there for the delivery and offered added support and comfort! She also stayed at our house for the first two nights; cooking meals, cleaning up, doing yard work, planted my garden, and of course enjoying Maia at 4 in the morning! She was so willing to do whatever I needed done- it was so nice having her here and not being alone during this new stage in my life!

Matt's Mom was also a big help when we got home from the hospital. Since i was two weeks early my house wasn't really in order- So she cleaned a lot and sanitized. When we got home from the hospital our bed was made with brand new bedding! She bought sheets, pillows, a nice blanket and even some new pajamas for me! She even filled our fridge with wonderful food to eat! It was a wonderful welcome home!

So, we've finally decided on a name and spelling. We've liked the name for a while, but right after she was born we started second guessing ourselves and wondering if we hadn't put enough thought into her name and just settled on something without thinking of other names. Anyway, we stuck with our first choice, but decided to spell it a bit differently: Maia Elizabeth Joseph. We were going to spell it Maya, but for some reason, it just seems to "fit" her better spelled with an "i".Mommy checking baby's feetsies

St. George Trip

With the semester being over and the baby about to be here we decided to take a short trip down to St. George. It was a fun little get-away and was pretty relaxing.
We played some golf (Matt got a new driver and 52 degree wedge for his birthday and was eager to test them out), visited the dinosaur tracks museum, went to the new St. George park and just layed around the pool for a couple of days. On the drive home we stopped at some of the small towns along the way and did some sight-seeing. Matt thought that would be fun. We stopped by one of the old cemeteries along the way and looked at some of the headstones from pioneers. It was pretty interesting.
It was a fun trip and the perfect beginning to the summer. Who knows when we'll be able to get away again. Maya will be here in a few weeks, so it might be a while before we can take another trip.

I'll admit, there were a couple of times last night where I was scared that Kobe had brought his broom to Utah. I can't really put into words how much I hate the Lakers. I don't know if there are even words to describe it. Even the most offensive, vile words don't even begin to convey the feelings I have inside for the Lakers. I hate Houston more, but the Lakers are a close second.(I'm not very good at reading lips, but I think Boozer said something naughty after slamming it down Gasol's ugly face)I'm glad we got a win last night, and I hope we can keep it up on Saturday. Sure, we may only be delaying the inevitable, but I would love to delay it as long as possible.(Pardon me, Pau. I must dunk this ball in your ugly, homo-erectus looking face.)I love the playoffs and I don't want the Jazz to pull a "MacGrady" and be knocked out in the first round. Especially by the Lakers.

Who the hell is Perez Hilton?

So, once again the gay marriage question has been brought up, and once again we're forced to hear how anyone who doesn't wholeheartedly support gay marriage is a biggot, and now (according to Perez Hilton) a bitch. If you haven't heard about the latest attrocity against the gay community, watch this:I'll admit, whether or not gay's have the right to marry would have little or no direct impact on me personally. No one in my family is gay (that I know of) and I don't have any close friends who are gay, so the whole debate over gay marriage isn't something I really have a strong opinion on. I understand (as much as possible) the perspective of the homosexual community in wanting the right to marry, and I understand the perspective of the heterosexual community in wanting to define marraige as a union between a man and a woman. Both sides have valid points and concerns and it's a difficult and divisive subject to address.
What infuriates me about this particular situation is all of the fallout and subsequent defamation of Miss California because of the answer she gave to the question posed by Perez Hilton (the idiot in the video). My opinion is this: If you don't want to hear an honest answer to a question, don't ask it. It seems like Perez was trolling for the answer he wanted to hear and knew that he would instantly place any of the constestants in a difficult situation by asking the gay marriage question. I'm sure he thought that when he asked the question, the constestant who answered would simply become another advocate for gay marriage and use the time to champion the cause in hopes of furthering their career. So, now that Miss California stood up for her beliefs and stated an honest opinion on gay marriage, there's nothing left to do but villianize her and try and paint her as another homophobic biggot.
I laugh at the hypocrisy in this situation. On the one hand, a (I'm assuming he's homosexual) man is asking a question about the "rights" of gays to marry, but on the other hand, when he doesn't agree with her answer, he tramples on her right to have and voice an opinion by trying to portray her as some anti-gay hatemonger. In the video, Perez makes reference to Presidential candidates and tries (unsuccessfully) to explain why he thinks there's a difference between someone running for President and a woman running for Miss America. He says that Miss America is someone who should "represent all of America," as if the President has no such obligation.
The message I take from this whole situation is that if you're going to assume a role that places you in the public eye, it's your duty...nay...your RESPONSIBILITY to know what the prevailing opinion of the crowd you're addressing is, regarding any topic, and agree with it. Anything short of that makes you "unAmerican." I wonder if she had been asked that same question at an NRA convention if her answer would have been met with such hostility?
I admire Miss California for letting her honest opinion on such a hot-button topic be known. I think it takes courage to be true to your beliefs and not simply cater to masses and sell-out. And as for what I think of Perez Hilton, I think this picture says it best. Who the hell is Perez Hilton, anyway?

Family BaBy Shower!

I was so happy to be able to have a baby shower with my whole family on conference weekend! Maya was Officially SPOILED! Thank you for coming you guys and getting so much for our little girl! Now i just have to survive the next 7 weeks and 6 days(hopefully she comes early and not late)! Matt and I are getting very excited but still have so much to do! CAn't WaIT!!!!

We enjoyed a Saturday Easter celebration with my family and were happy to have them over to our house! WE had dinner, dyed eggs, and of course watched the jazz game! We had a great night and were so thrilled so much of our family was able to be there!

Matt's Thoughts on Liars

We all know one. Hell, we've all done it from time to time. I have no problem with someone telling an occasional white lie to avoid an awkward moment or to spare someone else embarrassment. I'm not saying it's right, just that it's sometimes understandable and excusable.
I do, however, have a gigantic problem with people who are chronic liars or deceivers. I hate these people and think the world would be a much better place if we could round them all up and dump them in the ocean.
I tend to find that people who are chronic liars generally possess similar characteristics. Being a liar is only one small part of who they are. Usually, chronic liars possess the following traits (in addition to being a liar):

Laziness. Lying is often times a way that they facilitate being a lazy pile.

Poor hygiene. The chronic liar will frequently smell bad. I have no explanation for this one, but I've discovered it's usually the case.

Insecurity. Someone who is addicted to lying frequently tells lies so they look better, or so people around them look worse.

Spousal abuse. Not always the case, but I thought I'd add it anyway.

No morals. Lying is obviously immoral, but someone who lies all the time about the most minute, peripheral details is more often than not intrinsically immoral and we would all be better off if they were shot.

Arrogance. I don't know why, but people who always lie posses a certain arrogance. They seem to think everyone around them is a clueless moron that doesn't pick up on their lies.

Annoying. This goes without saying. There's nothing more annoying than being around a liar. The worst part is having to coexist with someone you know is a liar, and not being able to call them to the carpet. Sometimes, in order to maintain a small degree of civility between yourself and the liar, you're forced to simply suck it up and smile.

Of course, this list is just the tip of the iceberg. I could easily pen out a novel that would rival "War and Peace" in length on the subject of liars, but I'll confine myself to a few short paragraphs to sum up my thoughts.
If you're reading this and happen to be a chronic liar, know this: A) I hate you, and B) you're not as clever as you think you are. For the sake of anyone who is forced to interact with you, I kindly request that you stop being a liar and face any consequences that may result from being honest.
If you're reading this and aren't a lying pile of garbage, please feel free to leave your comments expressing your feelings for liars.
All of this jargon may seem like just random thoughts or capricious babbling, but it makes me feel vindicated and has proven very therapeutic. I just hope it reaches it's target audience.

My Grandpa passed away recently. Anyone who knew him knows what a great man he was and how much our family will miss him. He lived a great life, raised a great family and was a perfect example of what it means to be Christlike. Our family takes comfort in knowing that he's in a much happier place right now and that he no longer has to suffer with the dementia that robbed him of his ability to articulate his thoughts later in his life. We miss you Grandpa and can't wait to see you again.

The ultrasound went very good last week. The technician said it was one of the best she'd ever done because our baby was developing perfectly and, for some reason, was very visible.
She ended up giving us 31 pictures of the ultrasound, along with the DVD. We had to smuggle them out because she was worried she'd get in trouble for giving us so many. She said she just couldn't stop taking stills because there were so many good views.

As I was sitting at work tonight, I was struck with the urge to write something about my wife.As we anxiously await the arrival of our first baby (we're not even halfway there) I've been reflecting a lot on what kind of father I'll be and hoping that I don't screw up the life of an innocent child. My fears and anxieties about fatherhood are always quickly offset by the reassurance I get from knowing what a wonderful wife I have and what a great mother she'll be to our children.My patriarchal blessing talks a lot about my wife. It says that I'll find a girl who I "knew in the heavens" before we were born and that she'll be a great strength to me. It says that we committed to find one another and be married in the temple. It also says that she'll give me great counsel and urges me to listen to the advice she'll give me throughout our life. I'm surprised that Sarah's blessing doesn't say something to the effect of "at times it will seem like your husband's sole purpose in life is to annoy and frustrate you," or "your husband will be a constant thorn in your side, hellbent on making your life as hard as possible." I definitely think I got the better end of the bargain.My wife is one of the hardest working people I know. I'm always inspired by how much effort she puts into everything she does in life. She tries so hard in school and puts her all into whatever task she undertakes. She is the biggest motivation I have in my life. I'm thankful for how hard she pushes me and how much faith she has in me. Every time I consider throwing in the towel, whether it be in school, work, or whatever, I think of her and how much she believes in me. Sure, there are times when I wish she expected me to fail so I could just quit school and my job and sit at home playing Tiger Woods '09 all day and not be a disappointment, but she doesn't and it's her faith in me that helps me get through the tedium and monotony of life.
She is the most caring person I know and I feel blessed to have her as my wife. I love you Sarah.

Weekend Getaway

We had a chance to getaway for a little bit this weekend. We went to Disneyland.
The trip was short, but fun. We left on Saturday morning and came home on Sunday night.
Our annual passes expired on Sunday, so we figured we'd better use them once more before they expired.

The Utes successfully completed their regular season Quest for Perfection last night by rolling over the Team Down South with relative ease. What a perfect end to a perfect regular season.No last second miracle plays, Collie was not open, no 4th and 18, just a good, solid thumping by the Utes. Of course, all of us Ute fans saw this coming. I hope TDS fans can cope with the reality that, while they have a good football team when up against losing teams, they don't quite have what it takes to beat any respectable team. Hats off to them for trying, but I think their season record speaks for itself: 8-0 against Pac 10 bottom dwellers and MWC lightweights, 0-2 against the MWC Champions and TCU. Maybe next year their slogan can be "Quest for Mediocrity". If they have another season like this year, they'll be able to accomplish their quest.I can't be critical of their team, after all they have a great QB who gets another shot at the Utes next year and there is a lot of talent on their team. I have a lot of respect for the players, it's their fans that drive me nuts. Hopefully, they're silenced after last night and they won't belittle their teams effort this season with lame-brain excuses and spiteful disses of the Utes. I do have one favor to ask of any willing Cougarette fan: Put $100 on the Utes for me when you go down to Vegas to watch the TDS in their bowl game. I'll split the winnings with you. Here are a few of my favorite moments from last nights game:(Is Collie still open? Must not be "livin' righteously.")

The Utes are going to hand the Team Down South their second loss of the season on Saturday and definitively end the "Quest" once and for all. I hope it puts to bed all of the Zoobie fantasies of a BCS bowl. Only good teams get to go to those.

Here are some highlights of Utah's win over TCU

This was seriously one of the most exciting football games I've ever been to. I thought Rice-Eccles Stadium was going to collapse when Utah got that last-minute TD and everyone erupted. I love Utah football and it's awesome to see them doing so well this season. It's a bit reminiscent of 2004, the only exception being that every game hasn't been a blowout. I don't know if I like close, exciting games or would prefer that the Utes dominate every team like they did in '04. I'm a young, relatively healthy guy, but I thought I was going to have a stress induced heart attack during the last 2 minutes of the TCU game.
The Utes are looking pretty good heading into the final stretch. We'll steamroll SDSU and I'm fairly confident we'll stomp the Team Down South this year (despite the dreams of grandeur that Cougar fans have of another upset courtesy of their off-the-field righteousness!).

Quite frankly, I don't really care if they're both freaked out by it. Jaren is so damn cute, I'd be freaked out if I WASN'T obsessed with him. I mean, he's a miniature human for hell's sake. That alone trips me out. And, when I think about the fact that Luke made him, his very existence becomes something quite anomalous. Who wouldn't be obsessed with that?
(April said this was a "half-smile." Personally, I think it looks more like a baby smiling ecstatically because his Godfather is holding him. I could be wrong.)

Project Conference Weekend

Well conference came and went this time! I wish we could have conference every month- the talks are just so enriching and wonderful! But this weekend we started some new traditions and that made it even more special! so i have been looking for a console table at the DI for the entry way. after months of no success i decided i was going to build my own! so Saturday matt and i had off- that never happens on the same day - it was wonderful, but we headed to the depot to buy our materials! it took us a long time to decide what the design would even be to make it cheaper to build than buy! after much deliberation inspiration hit a nd matt had the idea! we got home and went to work! and TA-DA! our first project of many!
Well That night i was still feelin pretty crafty so the girls had a craft night during priesthood!
